Features Benefits
Application Integration Brings other departmental and company applications together in one common interface using your choice of interfaces
Powerful AutoGUI Completely transforms the look and feel of green-screen legacy applications, dramatically simplifying the process of reading, understanding, and entering information
Mouse Navigation Use your mouse to navigate through applications and menus, and to jump to inputs
Keyboard
Customization
Define functions for PC keys including macros, scripts or specific character strings
Multiple Sessions Run any number of host sessions concurrently, limited only by available PC memory or by other restrictions imposed by the selected network communication protocol
File Transfer Supports all the standard file transfer protocols, including Kermit, XMODEM, YMODEM, ZMODEM, IND$FILE, and FTP (including passive sessions), as well as its own proprietary file transfer protocols (PICK.DOS, and UNIXDOS)
Command Stacker Recall and edit previously entered keyboard entries without retyping; configure the command stacker to prevent username and passwords from being recorded
3D Line Sculpting Enhances on-screen line drawing by using a 3-D sculpted line-effect to give your application a 'chiselled' look and feel
Macro Scripting Support Automate standard tasks using the powerful macro facility. You can use the macro recorder to automate simple tasks, or you can write a program in the HostAccess macro language to automate almost any host task
64-bit Windows™ Support Supports Microsoft® x64 Editions of Windows XP Professional™ ,Windows Server 2003™ and Windows Vista™
Printing Configure your printer to support the requirements of your particular environment. Send printer output to a file, assign local (slave) host printing, or define graphics support for printing
AiF Allows you to implement a host-driven GUI client for your applications. This implementation enables your application to support Dumb Terminals, Character based emulation, and full Windows™ GUI support

Legacy systems often used a host-dumb terminal architecture where the dumb terminal accessed the host's capabilities, including stored information, computation power and printing, through one of several terminal communication protocols such as VT100 or ANSI. Terminal emulation software such as HostAccess® enables a modern Windows™ PC to appear as a terminal and access these legacy applications. The level of emulation is complete and includes alpha-numeric keys as well as screen management functions such as cursor positioning and screen clearing.

HostAccess enables you to connect to one or more hosts across different networks using multiple emulations and protocols. HostAccess is session-based and supports multiple, concurrent sessions each with a different emulation. Individual sessions can be open, closed, and saved independently of other open sessions.

HostAccess supports both block mode and asynchronous (character-mode) emulations. Block mode devices tend to be those designed to work with large mainframes such as IBM 3270 and IBM 5250. Character mode devices tend to be those designed to work with mid-range systems such as DEC VT100 and Prism.

HostAccess also allows the user interface of legacy terminal-based applications to be modernized using its powerful AutoGUI feature. In three easy ways, HostAccess technology enables you to implement your terminal emulation solution:

  • Create a tailored GUI to transform most traditional green screens into modern,Windows™-like applications in minutes using the powerful AutoGUI features.
  • Integrate your host applications with your PC applications using ActiveX™ Controls, COM Objects, OLE automation, and DDE.
  • Transform your host applications with floating toolbars, hotspots, hot keys, mousesupport, icons, push buttons, secondary windows, graphs, ActiveX™ Controls, and COMObjects using the AiF Toolkit.
